Trustees of the Future
Shaping the Organisations of Tomorrow
Trustees of the Future is our commitment to championing diverse voices, fresh perspectives, and inclusive leadership at every level of our work.
Through this project, we are actively creating space for younger trustees and individuals from underrepresented backgrounds to help shape the future of our services.
We have been piloting this project within Alström Syndrome UK (ASUK) and are supporting young people with the skills and knowledge they need to be future Trustees.
By broadening who sits around the table, we ensure our decisions reflect the real needs and lived experiences of the communities we serve. This isn’t just about inclusion — it’s about building a stronger, more responsive, and a more innovative organisation for tomorrow.
We are developing a guide to spotlight our Trustees of the Future project and to champion a wider movement: placing lived experience at the heart of organisational development. This resource will demonstrate how welcoming young trustees and diverse voices into leadership not only strengthens governance but also ensures services remain relevant, inclusive, and responsive. By involving people with lived experience at every stage — from strategy to delivery — we create organisations that truly reflect and serve their communities.
This guide will be both a call to action and a practical roadmap for embedding equity, representation, and lived experience into the heart of your organisation.
