Please provide a brief description of the support your organisation provides:
ACP Group work with the community to bridge those gaps of inequality. We listen, learn and work collaboratively with our community to ensure everyone understands the part they play in helping to build resilience, opportunity and personal growth. We provide greater access to resources, knowledge, support and expertise to help communicate the complexities that life brings, especially when people experience isolation, lack of awareness and other barriers that prevent people to seek help or get connected to support services.
We also a Women Wellbeing Hub for BAME women and children, experiencing greatest barriers to health services due to isolation, language /cultural barriers and low levels of education. Service provides holistic care to help improve physical, mental, social and emotional wellbeing.
We are now leading a programme to improve health outcomes for Black Asian and Minority Ethnic pregnant women, from pre-conception, during and after birth. Working with BUMP NHS delivering a 12-week programme covering nutritional health and wellbeing supported by GP services and Health and Nutrition Coaches. This service was developed to address shocking statistics that in Birmingham Pakistani, Black African and Bangladeshi communities were over-represented in child deaths with Pakistani’s having highest numbers. This is linked to poorer health outcomes, barriers to accessing health services, deprivation, child poverty and socio economic disadvantage, with an added factor of consanguinity (inter-marriage) which largely affected Pakistani communities.
