“The BDB project has such a great reputation and for us at NPUK it’s definitely something we benefit from, and I know funders recognise its value too.
Breaking Down Barriers is FREE to join and offers training, support and organisational development.
Breaking Down Barriers (BDB) is a large network of organisations with a wealth of knowledge and experience, all learning from one another. The overall aim is to improve the lives of those affected by genetic conditions who are from a diverse and marginalised communities, so they have equal access to healthcare.
BDB pride themselves on providing a safe and open space where sensitive topics are explored in a honest way.
At BDB we don’t ever say we are the ‘experts’, we are always learning together and this is all about development and growth between us all throughout the network, in the best interests of the families and individuals who we support.
If you are interested in joining this collaborative network or if you would like further information, then please get in touch with Catherine Lewis by email catherine.lewis@alstrom.org.uk
I would encourage you to view this creative and reflective animation. It will take you on a journey of why the Breaking Down Barriers project exists and why this collaborative work is vitally important.
At Breaking Down Barriers, we believe that patient organisations and support groups have an important role to play in addressing the challenge of developing appropriate genetic services for diverse communities in the UK. The purpose of this project is to strengthen the ability of patient organisations and support groups to develop supportive and inclusive services for individuals and families affected by genetic disorders.
At Breaking Down Barriers, we believe that patient organisations and support groups have an important role to play in addressing the challenge of developing appropriate genetic services for the UK’s multi-ethnic population.
